I moved to Winthrop 12 years ago with my wife and we are raising three children ages 5, 7 and 9. I have also recently moved my law practice to French Square.
I bring varied experience to the Town Council with over 20 years as an attorney. As an attorney, I serve my clients by helping them navigate the zoning laws and negotiating beneficial contracts on their behalf. I understand the law and know how to negotiate. I will bring my best efforts to preserve, maintain and improve our Town.
Since moving to Winthrop in 2011, I have been involved in our community. I have served as the Chair of the Board of Licensing from 2018-2021.
In January 2022, I accepted an appointment to the Chair of the Winthrop Ordinance Review Committee. In this capacity, I led a comprehensive review and report on Winthrop's Charter, Rules and Ordinances, examining and proposing ways that our local government can be more effective and reflective of our community's needs. This comprehensive review resulted in a firm grasp of our Town's Charter and Ordinances.
And in June 2023, I accepted an appointment as a member of the Board of Appeals.
In addition, I currently serve as President of the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, where I work to improve and strengthen our local businesses.
I am running for Town Council, because I know I can protect, preserve and improve our Town. Preserving our sense of community and building a home for my children motivated me to run for the Precinct 2 seat.

I am running for Town Council, because I know I can protect, preserve and improve our Town. Preserving our sense of community and building a home for my children motivated me to run for the Precinct 2 seat.
Winthrop is an island flanked by Revere and East Boston. We hold Suffolk County's water treatment facility and 1/3 of Logan Airport's runways rest on Winthrop's soil.
In the next four years, our Town Council faces the negotiation of contracts for a state-of-the-art Rec Center at the old Middle School, a new firehouse, the renewal of the MWRA Mitigation Agreement and the MassPort PILOT Agreement.
We are at a serious juncture in our town's history. The next four years will shape Winthrop's next half-century. As a Town Councilor, I will be in a position to advocate for our community and protect and preserve the town we call home.
If elected by the voters of Precinct 2, I will bring my experience to our Town Council and work to maximize the benefit of these negotiations for all of Winthrop.

As a parent of three young children, I am concerned by recent studies that rank our school system in the bottom third in Massachusetts. Our children deserve better. I see my role as Town Councilor as an opportunity to apply my energy and talent for the benefit of Winthrop Public Schools.
I will work to ensure that our students have access to quality education, modern facilities, and extracurricular activities that help them thrive. We are fortunate to have new and state of the art school buildings, but we also need to allocate funds to maintain these properties in good repair.
I will fight to keep our class sizes small. I support the elimination of User Fees for sports, music and the arts. I support initiatives that foster improvement in the areas of special education, our foreign language programs, math and English proficiency, Advanced Placement opportunities, and overall college and trade school readiness. I will work with the school district to address any infrastructure needs and ensure our schools remain safe and are conducive to providing the best education for our children.
As a Town Councilor, I will work to maximize the Town’s funding of our school system to provide the School Committee with the resources necessary to implement programs that will enhance the education of our students.
Winthrop Schools need more money--plain and simple. Winthrop schools are staffed by amazing teachers and populated by talented young minds ready to lead us into a bright future. While this should be enough for Winthrop schools to succeed, it is not. Sadly, Winthrop schools rank in the bottom third of Massachusetts schools, behind Malden and Revere. Why? The answer is simple: more money.
Malden and Revere get more Chapter 70 aid from the state for their schools than Winthrop does, way more – Revere gets over $84 million in Chapter 70 aid; Malden gets more than $54 million. Last year, Winthrop received about $8 million in Chapter 70 aid from the state. And Winthrop Public Schools paid the price.
As an attorney, I know how to get more money for my clients. As your Town Councilor, I will put my knowledge to work for you and your children by getting more money for Winthrop Public Schools and give our Superintendent and School Committee the tools they need to deliver our kids the first-class education that they deserve.

If elected, I will promote your best interests in the development of Winthrop. Where we live can influence our health, our economic potential, and our children’s future. Everyone in Winthrop deserves the opportunity to realize the dream of living somewhere affordable, convenient, beautiful, and safe.
The investments that we make in the development of Winthrop today will bear fruit that will nourish the lives of our children and grandchildren tomorrow. The site of the old middle school, the building of a new fire station, these are important decisions that require serious consideration. Precinct 2 needs a strong advocate at the negotiation for these development contracts.
My vision for the site does not include the use of taxpayer funds. Sources of funding can be derived from a combination of entering lease agreements that the Town can borrow against, grant money, the use of mitigation funds, and/or a private-public partnership to develop the site into a facility that can be an asset to all.

I support the immediate redevelopment of the old Middle School site. The portion of the site that faces Waldemar Ave should carve out four single-family house lots. The revenue from the sale of the lots will cover the majority of the cost of demolition and removal of the existing structure. The remainder of the parcel should consist of a first-class facility, including available rental space to house a gym, a pool, an indoor track, basketball courts, indoor soccer/lacrosse, arts and more.
Whether the current proposal for a privately built Rec Center comes to fruition or whether another model emerges, I will advocate for the residents of Winthrop, young and old, to have ample access to the future facility.
